Ear Microsuction

Ear Microsuction is a gentle and safe procedure used to remove earwax (cerumen) or debris from the ear canal. It is performed by a trained GP using a small suction device under direct vision with a microscope or specialised camera, allowing the clinician to clearly see inside your ear at all times.

Cost

This service is subsidised under the Medicare Benefits Schedule. The follow gap fees apply:

$140 out-of-pocket

$120 out-of-pocket (for Pension Concession card holders)

Payment is required in full at the time of your treatment.

Why is Ear Microsuction Recommended?

You may be advised to have ear microsuction if you have:

  • Blocked ears or reduced hearing due to wax build-up
  • Ear discomfort or a feeling of fullness
  • Tinnitus (ringing) that worsens with wax blockage
  • Hearing aid users needing clear ear canals for optimal function
  • History of ear infections or previous ear surgery
  • Medical conditions (e.g. perforated eardrum) where syringing is not suitable

How do I book?

Book in with your GP, who will review and assess your symptoms. If convenient for you and staff, this will be done on the same day, otherwise an appointment will be made for another day.
