She has experience in treating adults with depression, PTSD, anxiety, stress, trauma, pain management, grief, oncology, and psychological aspects of various medical conditions such as Diabetes and Parkinson’s Disease. Dr Hutchinson believes that psychological well-being and resilience means not only identifying what goes wrong for individuals from a psychological perspective, but also on what goes right with people, and how clients can be facilitated through the process of therapy to access their strengths and the resilient parts of themselves.
Training has included various modalities including evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy and mindfulness. Dr Hutchinson also undertook extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and existential/Gestalt psychology as part of a D Litt et Phil program. She has presented research on resilience and psychological well-being at various conferences and training programs and has been published nationally and internationally. Overall, every client is unique and this uniqueness dictates what therapeutic approach is deemed most appropriate.
